Obituary for Randall Wayne Cox

Randall Wayne Cox
Randall W. Cox, age 56 of Carl Junction, Mo., passed away early Saturday, December 2, 2017 at his home following an illness.

Randall was born on June 1, 1961 in Beaufort, S.C., the son of Henry and Marilyn (Redell) Cox. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. Randall has been a long-time area resident. He enjoyed working on and riding motorcycles, classic cars, hot-rods and he could manufacture and build almost anything.

He enlisted in the Navy on May 5th,1986; and served eight years active duty. On July 4th 1992 he became a plank owner of the USS George Washington. And he served in Operation Desert Shield.

Randy took a great deal of pride in strong work ethic and a job well done. Some would call Randy very critical and too judgmental at times. However he held a high standard for most everything he did and he expected the same of others. He was loved by many, disliked by few and respected by all who knew him.

He loved to have a good time; sometime too good of a time. But he brought smiles and laughter during those times to all who were lucky enough to be present. In the words of a dear friend he lived life to the fullest and unapologetically. He always said he was not here for a long time but for a good time.

He married Windy Smith on April 21, 2012 in Joplin, Mo., she survives. Additional survivors include two daughters; Jessica Scott of Kodiak, Ak., Ashley Cox of the home, a son; Randall Cox II and wife Kayla of Joplin, three step-children; Amiel Overman of Carl Junction, Jonathan Overman of Joplin and Grace Overman of Joplin, one extended family daughter Mary Abell and husband Justin Abell of Carl Junction, and five grandchildren; Emma Scott, Bellea Abell, Noah Overman, Bentley Abell and Eliza Overman. Randall was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Kim Bronfman.

Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2017 at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at Hogs and Hotrods on old route 66, for those who would like to gather there after the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
