Obituary for Randy J. Owsley

Randy Jay Owsley, of Joplin, Missouri went to be with his Lord on November 26, 2015 after a 20 year battle with heart disease. He was 69 years old.
He was born to the late Wendell Holmes and Audrey Lucille “Littell” Owsley on March, 9, 1946, in Pekin, Indiana. He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Sharp and survived by his sister, Jackie “Sharp” Zehr, a gaggle of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, and an overweight Dachshund named PD.
He was also survived by his college sweetheart, Barbara “Plummer” Owsley, who he was married to for 46 years. Together, they created and raised four children, Jason, Meegan, Alissa and Bryce. He was also a proud Papa of six grandchildren, Leonora, Gillian, Clarice, Thea, Lillian, and Oliver. If you knew Randy, you knew about his family because they were the reason his broken heart continued to beat for 20 years.
Randy was a highly recognized Certified Athletic Trainer for over 40 years. His hobbies included Sci-Fi television, cuddling grandbabies, befriending strangers, tracking the weather, bragging on his children and eating Barb’s food. He will be remembered most for his profound kindness, his sweet tenor voice, and a deep love of his Savior.
His memorial service will be held at Wellspring Church, Webb City, on December 11 at 10:00am. Donations will be made to Wellspring Church through Mason Woodard.
