Obituary for Norbert S. Zimmer

Norbert Zimmer, age 94, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Wednesday May 25, 2011, at Joplin Health and Rehab, following an illness.
Norbert was born on March 15, 1917 in Louisville, Ky., the son of the late Ferdman and Anna (Hardt) Zimmer. He served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. He worked for the government as a plumber /pipe fitter until his retirement in 1973. He has been a resident of Joplin for the past fourteen years. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
He married Nora Snawder on February 22, 1936 in Louisville, KY, and she preceded him in death on April, 2005. Also preceding him in death were 5 sisters.
Surviving are two daughters, Janet Estep and husband Andrew, Joplin, MO, Linda Weekley and husband Thom, Leesburg, FL; three grandchildren, Ross Runnells of Nevada, Mo., Sam Weekley of Orlando, Fl. and Joshua Runnells U.S. Marines, Okinawa, Japan; four great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Ozark Memorial Park with Father J. Friedel officiating. The family will receive friends 7–8 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
